HISTORY, COFFEE & ART: A DIFFERENT WAY TO NETWORK IN MEXICO CITY
“Everybody wants to be us.” — The Devil Wears Prada ☕👗🎨
On September 5, 2026, FIGHT CLUB CDMX took networking into the streets of Hipódromo Condesa, Mexico City, for an experience that was deliberately different from a traditional networking event.
There was coffee.
Vintage fashion.
Mexican design.
Art.
Architecture.
History.
And, of course, lots of conversations.
The HISTORY, COFFEE & ART NETWORKING WALK was designed around one simple idea:
You can discover a neighborhood, learn something new and meet interesting people at the same time.
☕ WHAT WAS THE HISTORY, COFFEE & ART NETWORKING WALK?
The event was a walking networking experience organized by FIGHT CLUB CDMX in Condesa and Hipódromo, Mexico City.
Rather than staying in one venue, participants moved through the neighborhood, visiting different creative and cultural spaces along the way.
The stops included a hidden coffee location, a vintage and second-hand fashion business, a Mexican interior design and plant concept space, an independent art gallery and a final networking venue.
Between stops, participants walked approximately 5–15 minutes through the streets of Hipódromo Condesa.
There was no rush.
No formal conference agenda.
No sitting in a room waiting for someone to tell you to network.
People simply walked, discovered and talked.
🏛️ DISCOVERING HIPÓDROMO CONDESA
Hipódromo Condesa is one of the most recognizable neighborhoods in Mexico City, but many people who live or work nearby still walk past its architecture, galleries, shops and creative spaces without knowing the stories behind them.
The neighborhood was developed in the 1920s on the grounds of a former horse-racing track.
Its distinctive curved streets still reflect the shape of the original track, while Art Deco architecture, leafy streets, roundabouts and creative businesses have helped make the area one of Mexico City's most popular cultural neighborhoods.
For the FIGHT CLUB CDMX community, the neighborhood became the setting for something more than a historical walk.
It became a place to connect.
☕ COFFEE & FIRST HELLOS
The experience began with coffee and introductions.
Starting over coffee gave participants an easy way to meet each other before the walking part of the experience began.
Instead of immediately asking someone what they do for work, conversations could begin with the neighborhood, the coffee, travel, Mexico City or simply why someone decided to join the event.
And that's exactly the point of experiential networking.
The activity gives people something to talk about.
👗 THE BUSINESS BEHIND VINTAGE FASHION
One of the highlights was a visit to a carefully curated vintage and second-hand fashion business.
Participants didn't simply look at clothes.
They learned about the business behind them.
How do you source one-of-a-kind vintage pieces?
How do you find clothing internationally?
How does the logistics process work when bringing unique pieces into Mexico?
How do you turn a passion for fashion into a business?
The experience showed that vintage fashion isn't only about style.
It is also about history, sustainability, culture, sourcing, logistics and entrepreneurship.
And naturally, it gave everyone something to talk about while networking.
🌿 MEXICAN DESIGN, PLANTS & HANDCRAFTED MACETAS
The walk continued to a creative interior design space featuring plants, specialty coffee and handcrafted macetas from different regions of Mexico.
It was another example of how the event connected networking with local creativity.
Instead of simply visiting a tourist attraction, participants discovered a business and the people behind it.
Mexican craftsmanship, interior design, plants and entrepreneurship all came together in one stop.
🎨 ART & ARCHITECTURE IN HIPÓDROMO CONDESA
The group continued through the streets of Hipódromo Condesa, discovering Art Deco buildings, independent galleries and creative spaces that are easy to overlook when you're simply trying to get somewhere.
The group also visited a contemporary art gallery featuring the final days of an exhibition and several hidden rooms.
Our history guide, Julia, added another layer to the experience, sharing historical facts, stories and jokes about the neighborhood.
Suddenly, buildings that participants might normally walk past became part of the conversation.
🤝 WHY WALKING NETWORKING WORKS
This is one of the reasons FIGHT CLUB CDMX keeps experimenting with different formats for networking.
Traditional networking can sometimes feel like work.
You stand in a room.
You introduce yourself.
You exchange LinkedIn profiles.
Then you try to think of something interesting to say to the next person.
Walking changes the dynamic.
When people are moving through a neighborhood together, there is always something happening around them.
You can talk about the building you're looking at.
You can comment on an exhibition.
You can ask where someone discovered a particular restaurant.
You can discuss fashion, design, business or travel.
And because the group spends several hours together, conversations don't have to be rushed.
The environment does part of the networking for you.
🌎 MEETING PEOPLE OUTSIDE YOUR PROFESSIONAL BUBBLE
One of the biggest benefits of experiential networking is meeting people you might never encounter through your normal professional circle.
A founder might end up talking to an architect.
A technology professional might connect with a fashion entrepreneur.
A marketer might discover a business opportunity with someone from finance.
A local might exchange recommendations with a traveler.
And someone who came simply to make friends might leave with a completely unexpected professional connection.
This is networking beyond job titles.
It's meeting the person before the LinkedIn profile.
🍸 THE FINAL NETWORKING PARTY
The walk finished with an open-ended networking experience at one of Mexico City's newer and more talked-about venues.
Participants could stay for one drink or continue the evening with the community.
This final part of the experience was intentionally open-ended.
The official event could finish, but the networking didn't have to.
Because some of the best conversations happen after the schedule ends.
✨ MORE THAN A TOUR
The HISTORY, COFFEE & ART NETWORKING WALK wasn't really a traditional tour.
It wasn't a museum visit.
It wasn't a business conference.
And it wasn't simply a walk through Condesa.
It was a combination of all of them.
History + coffee + fashion + Mexican craftsmanship + art + architecture + networking.
And that combination is what made the experience special.
💬 NETWORKING WITHOUT THE WORKING
At FIGHT CLUB CDMX, we're interested in creating situations where people actually want to talk to each other.
Sometimes that's a rooftop.
Sometimes it's a party.
Sometimes it's a hike.
And sometimes it's walking through one of Mexico City's most interesting neighborhoods while discovering the businesses, artists, architects and entrepreneurs shaping it.
The goal stays the same:
Bring interesting people together and give them a reason to connect.
❤️ A DIFFERENT WAY TO EXPERIENCE MEXICO CITY
Mexico City is full of places that become invisible when you live here long enough.
You walk past the same buildings.
You pass the same shops.
You stop noticing the details.
Events like HISTORY, COFFEE & ART are an excuse to slow down and look again.
To discover the story behind a business.
To appreciate a building.
To meet the person creating something interesting.
And to have a conversation with someone you probably wouldn't have met otherwise.
Because the best parts of Mexico City are usually the ones you never planned to find.
