SUN IN THE SKY: HOW FIGHT CLUB CDMX TURNED A SATURDAY HIKE INTO A NETWORKING EXPERIENCE

“There is no reason to go through life alone.” — 127 Hours 🌄

On August 22, 2026, FIGHT CLUB CDMX took networking outside the city with SUN IN THE SKY — EASY NETWORKING HIKE, a relaxed Saturday experience combining hiking, nature, Mexican food and the kind of conversations that happen naturally when people step away from a traditional networking event.

Instead of meeting around a conference table, a bar or a rooftop, participants met in nature approximately one hour outside Mexico City (CDMX).

The idea was simple:

Walk together. Talk naturally. Discover a new place. Meet interesting people.

And it worked.

🌞 WHAT WAS SUN IN THE SKY?

SUN IN THE SKY was an easy-level networking hike organized by FIGHT CLUB CDMX, the Mexico City networking community bringing together entrepreneurs, professionals, founders, investors, digital nomads and internationally minded people.

The event was designed specifically to make networking feel less formal.

There were no rows of chairs.

No awkward elevator pitches.

No requirement to walk around handing out business cards.

Instead, people spent several hours walking through nature, sharing conversations, taking photos and experiencing the day together.

The result was a much more natural form of networking.

🥾 AN EASY NETWORKING HIKE FOR EVERYONE

The route was designed as an easy hiking experience, making it suitable for beginners and people who wanted to enjoy the outdoors without committing to a demanding mountain hike.

Friends, families, children and dogs were welcome.

The focus wasn't speed or athletic performance.

This was not a race.

The group walked together, stopped to enjoy the scenery and created plenty of opportunities for conversations.

For people who had always wanted to try hiking near Mexico City, it was also an easy introduction to spending a Saturday morning outdoors.

🌿 WHY DOES HIKING MAKE NETWORKING EASIER?

Traditional professional networking can sometimes feel transactional.

You meet someone, exchange names and professions, talk about what you do and move on to the next person.

Walking changes the dynamic.

When people are moving together, conversations can develop naturally.

You can talk for five minutes, walk silently for a while, meet another person and start another conversation.

There is no pressure to constantly perform.

Shared experiences also give people something to talk about beyond their jobs.

Instead of starting with:

“What do you do?”

a conversation can start with:

“Have you been here before?”

Or:

“How often do you hike?”

Or simply:

“Look at that view.”

Those small interactions can become surprisingly meaningful connections.

🤝 NETWORKING BEYOND LINKEDIN

One of the ideas behind FIGHT CLUB CDMX events is that people should have the opportunity to meet others beyond their professional profiles.

At a traditional networking event, you often see someone's company, position and LinkedIn profile before you really know the person.

On a hike, those labels become less important.

A founder can walk next to a designer.

A digital nomad can meet an entrepreneur.

A professional new to Mexico City can discover a new place with someone who has lived in Mexico for years.

And two people who might never have approached each other at a business event can suddenly find themselves having a long conversation while walking through the forest.

That is what makes experiential networking different from traditional business networking.

🌮 MEXICAN FOOD AFTER THE HIKE

After the nature walk, the group continued the experience with a local Mexican food stop.

Participants supported local families and vendors from the area while enjoying traditional food and drinks.

And yes:

QUESADILLAS WITH CHEESE. 🧀

The food was PAYG — Pay As You Go, meaning participants paid directly for what they ordered.

There was also time to relax, enjoy drinks and continue conversations after the hike.

Because sometimes the best networking happens when the official activity is already finished.

🚗 THE NETWORKING STARTED BEFORE THE HIKE

One important part of the experience was transportation.

Because the hiking location was outside Mexico City, participants were connected through a WhatsApp group before the event to coordinate:

  • Carpooling
  • Ride sharing
  • Uber sharing
  • Drivers and passengers
  • Meeting points

This meant that the event didn't necessarily start when everyone arrived at the trail.

For some participants, the networking started in the car on the way there.

And it continued afterward.

🤖 NETWORKING BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE EVENT

FIGHT CLUB CDMX also uses an AI networking bot to help participants connect beyond the physical event.

The idea is simple: meeting someone once at an event shouldn't have to be the end of the connection.

Participants can discover who else is attending and continue networking before, during and after the event.

This creates a combination that is difficult to achieve with either online or offline networking alone:

TECHNOLOGY + COMMUNITY + REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCES.

🐶 DOGS, FAMILIES AND BEGINNERS WERE WELCOME

SUN IN THE SKY was intentionally designed to be more inclusive than a typical professional networking event.

Dogs of all sizes and breeds were welcome.

Families and children could participate.

And people didn't need previous hiking experience.

The only real requirements were comfortable shoes, water, sun protection and a willingness to meet new people.

☀️ WHAT MADE SUN IN THE SKY DIFFERENT?

The success of SUN IN THE SKY came from combining several things that don't normally appear together:

HIKING + NETWORKING + NATURE + MEXICAN CULTURE + COMMUNITY.

Instead of organizing another indoor networking event in Mexico City, FIGHT CLUB CDMX created a shared experience.

And shared experiences tend to create stronger memories.

People don't just remember who they met.

They remember the trail.

The views.

The food.

The conversations.

The funny moments.

The people they shared the experience with.

🌄 NETWORKING IN MEXICO CITY DOESN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN IN A BAR

Mexico City has a huge professional and international community, but networking doesn't have to mean cocktails, conferences or business breakfasts.

It can happen while hiking.

It can happen over tacos.

It can happen in a car on the way to the mountains.

It can happen while discovering a new part of Mexico.

That is one of the ideas behind FIGHT CLUB CDMX's approach to community building:

CREATE SITUATIONS WHERE PEOPLE NATURALLY WANT TO TALK TO EACH OTHER.

💛 MORE THAN A HIKE

SUN IN THE SKY was ultimately not just about hiking.

It was about giving people a reason to leave the city, spend time outside, meet new people and experience Mexico together.

For beginners, it was an introduction to hiking.

For families, it was a different kind of Saturday.

For professionals and entrepreneurs, it was networking without the pressure of traditional networking.

And for the FIGHT CLUB CDMX community, it was another opportunity to turn strangers into connections and connections into friendships.

Sometimes the best networking happens when nobody is trying too hard to network.

NETWORKING WITHOUT THE WORKING

Most professional networking events start with a drink, a name tag or a handshake.

SUN IN THE SKY started with a trail.

Instead of asking someone what they do within the first 30 seconds, participants could talk about the view, the weather, the route, Mexico, travel, dogs, food, business, life — or absolutely nothing related to work.

The conversations happened naturally.

A founder could walk alongside a diplomat.

A technology professional could meet a marketer.

An architect could exchange ideas with an entrepreneur.

A wellness professional could meet someone working in finance.

A corporate executive could discover a new business connection while walking through the forest.

And people looking for friendship could meet someone they would never have encountered through a traditional professional networking event.

ONE TRAIL. MANY INDUSTRIES. ONE COMMUNITY.

That's what made SUN IN THE SKY special.

Different industries.

Different careers.

Different countries.

Different generations.

Different stories.

But one shared experience.

A Saturday outside Mexico City.

A walk through nature.

Mexican food.

Dogs.

Sunshine.

Conversations.

And a community built one step — and one conversation — at a time. 🌞🌿🥾

FIGHT CLUB CDMX continues to create networking experiences in Mexico City where professional connections can develop naturally through shared experiences, from hikes and outdoor adventures to parties, workshops and other community events.
